Our team and our expertise
Umilys is a landscape architecture studio specialising in outdoor decoration and the design of gardens, terraces, and green spaces, prioritising contemporary aesthetics and the preservation of biodiversity.
Here, your landscape architect places great importance on environmental impact, minimal maintenance, as well as the design and functionality of the developed space.
We believe that a garden is not just a green space, but a meeting between nature, architecture, and the art of living.
Architecte-paysagiste.be is an initiative led by the company Vert Val SRL, a specialist in garden design in Belgium.
Our design and planning team
The studio brings together landscape architects and interior architects with deliberately complementary backgrounds — from scientific drawing to artistic gesture, from diploma to field experience. A common belief connects us: a beautiful garden is designed and built.
Tala - Landscape Architect
Architect and landscape architect, graduated with a master's in Sustainable Architecture and Landscape Design from the Politecnico di Milano, after studying architecture at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (Beirut). Trilingual (French, English, Arabic), she has designed ecological parks in Italy and applies scientific rigor to living systems: 3D modeling, GIS (QGIS), thermal comfort simulation with ENVI-met. Her hallmark: sustainability, biodiversity, and a design thought out for everyone, from children to the elderly.
Margaux - Landscape Architect

State-certified landscape architect from the National School of Landscape Architecture of Versailles-Marseille — the historical school of the French landscape —, complemented by the European master's programme EMILA (Amsterdam and Barcelona). Its approach is sensitive, almost poetic: it conceives space through the senses as much as through the plan. It is responsible for selected and realised gardens, such as "Le Méduse" in Juan-les-Pins. It brings the artistic gesture, the drawing, the model — and a true taste for the field (sites, realisations).
Lorenzo del Marmol - Founder

Founder of the studio, Lorenzo arrived at landscape through another path: entrepreneur and designer, with solid experience in management and project work. For five years, he devoured dozens of works on great landscape architects, drawing, plants, and underlying trends, visited numerous gardens, and tested his ideas in his own gardens — four, one after the other — before launching himself. It is almost an obsession for him: to remind that several of the greatest landscape architects never attended a landscape school. Louis Benech (a law degree, then apprenticed with the Hillier nurserymen), the Belgian Jacques Wirtz (trained in horticulture, his office built door-to-door) or Piet Oudolf (self-taught who became a master of naturalistic planting, creator of the High Line in New York) learned everything closest to the earth. His conviction: a good landscape architect is someone who draws, but who also knows how to execute on the ground. He is the one you will have as your first contact.
Landscape gardeners
Our team leaders and technicians master gardening, maintenance and horticulture. They are the ones who know plants inside out — the right pruning at the right time, the soil that suits each species, the maintenance that keeps a garden thriving year after year. It is this field expertise that ensures a beautiful plan remains a beautiful garden, long after planting.
Specialised workers in landscape masonry

The team also includes workers specialised in landscape masonry: terraces, paths and driveways, creation of small walls, installation of lighting systems, wooden constructions and finishing work. They are the builders of the garden — those who give the project its structure, levels and durability, transforming the design into solid reality underfoot.
Interior architecture

The team also includes interior architects. They take care of the interior layout, selection of furniture, finishes and materials — including in 3D modelling. Their role: to ensure perfect visual coherence between the plants, outdoor arrangements, furniture and finishes. As a result, the garden and the house speak the same language.
Contributing to the beautification of the world by creating harmonious living spaces with nature, promoting the flourishing of the senses and biodiversity.
Making beautiful gardens accessible and affordable, without compromising on quality and aesthetics.
At Umilys, this vision guides us every day. We shape green spaces designed as immersive sensory experiences where the beauty of plants interacts with the art of living.
Our mission is not limited to aesthetics. We aim to have a positive environmental impact by rehabilitating impoverished spaces or those lacking biodiversity. By 2025, we had planted over 24,000 plants, contributing to enriching soils, promoting pollination, and creating refuges for local wildlife. Each project is an opportunity to make nature more accessible and vibrant.
The benefits of these spaces go far beyond the environment. According to a study conducted in 2019 by the University of Exeter and the Michigan Medical School, spending at least 120 minutes per week in natural environments significantly improves well-being and reduces stress. These beneficial effects inspire us to design gardens that rejuvenate, soothe, and amaze.
Whether it is a private garden or a corporate space, our landscape architect creates unique landscapes that evolve with the seasons.
Make your garden a place of harmony and wonder.
