Landscape architect in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert

In Woluwe-Saint-Lambert (1200), green is never far away: it is one of the most wooded municipalities in Brussels, crossed by the Woluwe valley and its ponds. A setting that calls for gardens designed with care. Vert Val SRL — a landscape architecture office based in La Hulpe in Walloon Brabant — designs and carries out the layout of private gardens in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, from the first sketch to the last planting.

Points of attention: the gardens of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert

Woluwe-Saint-Lambert is the valley, the tree-lined avenues and some denser neighbourhoods. From one place to another, the garden is treated differently. Here is what we encounter the most — and our way of responding to it.

The Woluwe valley — At the bottom of the valley, along the Woluwe and the Struykbeek, the soils are often moist. We plan the drainage and choose plants that like to have their feet cool. Work with the water, not against it.

Wooded residential gardens — The municipality is one of the most wooded in Brussels. The reflex: to work with the existing trees, which immediately give maturity to a garden, rather than starting from scratch.

Remarkable trees: the status is checked — Woluwe-Saint-Lambert counts hundreds of remarkable trees. Before any significant felling or pruning, the status and any necessary permit are checked. It's better to know this before drawing.

From dense to residential — Between the outskirts of Roodebeek and Tomberg and the green avenues, the scale changes. The garden is adapted to its context: intimacy in the city, spaciousness elsewhere.

Gardens to discover in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert

We love this municipality for a simple reason: you can stroll here, and look at the trees. Three places that tell the story of Woluwe's vegetation.

Malou Park

The oldest and largest park in the municipality: eight hectares of landscaped park around a neoclassical castle from 1776 and a large pond fed by the Woluwe. Purple beech, catalpa, plane tree… beautiful remarkable specimens. Listed site and Natura 2000 area.

The Lindekemale mill

One of the oldest water mills in the Brussels Region: written records date back to 1129. Situated at the confluence of the Woluwe and Struykbeek, it's the kind of place you pass by without seeing — and which deserves a stop.

The Hof-ter-Musschen

Ten hectares of semi-natural land classified as Natura 2000, with a Brabant farm and a windmill. The countryside, in Brussels. A reminder that a bit of wild nature has its place even in the city.

 Woluwe of tomorrow

Creative reflection on greening our spaces.

The city of today is not the city of tomorrow. With warming, greenery in the city is no longer a luxury: it cools, absorbs rainwater, and creates connections. We took some very mineral places in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert and imagined them greener. A projection, not a project — but a real question: what if we dared?

Frequently asked questions

Do you operate everywhere in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert?

Yes. Vert Val SRL carries out private garden projects throughout the municipality of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert (1200), from Malou Park to the Roodebeek and Tomberg districts, as well as in Brussels and throughout Walloon Brabant.

My land remains wet in the valley bottom: what should I do?

Part of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert is located in the Woluwe valley, on soils that can remain wet. Rather than fighting it, we design the garden with this in mind: drainage, rainwater management, and plants suited to cool soils. This is what guarantees sustainable development.
