Landscape architect in Uccle
In Uccle (1180), the garden is part of the art of living. Large wooded areas, villas, green interiors, sloping grounds: one of the greenest municipalities in Brussels deserves gardens that match its stature. Vert Val SRL — a landscape architecture office founded by Lorenzo del Marmol, based in La Hulpe in Walloon Brabant — designs and creates private garden layouts in Uccle, from the first sketch to the last planting.

Points of attention: the gardens of Uccle
Uccle is rarely the small city garden. Here, we often work with space, ancient trees, and relief. Here is what we encounter most — and our way of responding to it.
Large gardens, mature trees — We work with what exists rather than starting from scratch. A beautiful old tree structures an entire garden: we highlight it and adapt the plantings to its shade.
Sloping and hilly grounds — Part of Uccle follows the old valleys (the Ukkelbeek). On sloping land, we work on levels, terraces, and drainage before designing the decor.
Protected trees: we check the status — Uccle has many remarkable trees and listed sites. Before any significant felling or pruning, we check the status and any necessary permits. It is our job to know.
Water management — Sometimes wet soils, runoff on slopes: we plan for drainage and rainwater retention from the start. Invisible, but it is what lasts over time.
Gardens to discover in Uccle
We know Uccle for a simple reason: we stroll there, and we look at the trees. Three places that tell the story of Uccle's vegetation.
Wolvendael Park
One of the large public parks of the Brussels agglomeration, designed in the English style on the slope of an ancient valley. Two beech groves, ponds, an 18th-century castle (now an art school) and a Louis XV pavilion rebuilt stone by stone. Listed since 1972. A park that never reveals itself at a single glance.

Sauvagère Park
Our botanical favourite: a giant sequoia among the ten most beautiful specimens in the Brussels Region, nearly five metres in circumference. All set in an English-style garden with a pond, rockery and even a small Greek temple. Listed site and Natura 2000.
Kauwberg
Fifty-three hectares of semi-natural land classified as Natura 2000, right in Uccle. Proof that you can have the city ten minutes away and the countryside at your feet. The kind of place that reminds us why vegetation matters.

What if we imagined Uccle greener?
Creative reflection on greening our spaces.
The city of today is not the city of tomorrow. With warming, vegetation in the city is no longer a luxury: it cools, absorbs rainwater and creates connections. We took some very mineral Uccle locations and imagined them greener. A projection, not a project — but a real question: what if we dared?.

Frequently asked questions
Do you operate everywhere in Uccle?
Yes. Vert Val SRL carries out private garden projects throughout the municipality of Uccle (1180), from the Saint-Job district to Wolvendael, as well as in Brussels and throughout Walloon Brabant.
What is the difference between a landscaper and a landscape architect?
A landscape architect designs the entire project — plans, choice of plants, materials, coordination of works — whereas a landscaper or garden contractor mainly carries out the planting and maintenance. At Vert Val SRL, Lorenzo del Marmol ensures the complete design, from the sketch to delivery.
My garden has old trees: do I need a permit to touch them?
In Uccle, many trees are remarkable or protected, and a permit may be required before significant felling or pruning. We check the status of your trees in advance and incorporate this constraint from the design stage.
